Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar share that Prithviraj was delayed due to the pandemic, and say, "if not for the pandemic the movie would have been released earlier."

Prithviraj trailer released: The makers of the much-awaited Bollywood film Prithviraj dropped its official trailer on May 9. Starring Akshay Kumar in the title role of King Prithviraj Chauhan of the Chauhan dynasty, and will revolve around The First Battle of Tarain, in which he faced Muhammad Ghori of the Ghurid dynasty. Former Miss World Manushi Chhillar, who is making her Bollywood debut with the film, will star opposite Akshay as Sanyogita.

During the trailer launch, on being asked about the delay of the film due to the pandemic, Manushi shared her experience and anxiety during the wait for the release. She said “Prithviraj was a lot of blood, sweat and tears, and definitely there couldn’t have been a better opportunity, but when I entered the industry I was told that patience would be the most useful thing and that is what I experienced in the last one and a half year. Definitely it needed a lot of patience because I was very excited for the film and we all worked very hard for the film and I wanted to see because it was my first experience on seeing the transcripted version on screens. And, at the end, how I will be accepted by the audience, so that wait has definitely been a lot but like we all said the wait has been longest for Dr sir (Chandraprakash Dwivedi) as he has been working on the film for last 14 years and no one can compete with that, while on an individual level I was really really waiting since it was my first film.

Responding to this, Akshay Kumar added, “That’s why I would suggest you to do 4 films a year”. The actors laughed at the response.

While later, on being asked about her support system, Manushi said that her family has been her biggest support system and that she’s happy that the film didn’t release at that time because everything has a right time.

Later, Akshay also mentions that if not for the pandemic the movie would have been released way before. He also mentions completing the movie in 42 days.

Initially scheduled to release on November 13, 2020, coinciding with Diwali, the film’s release was pushed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The release date was later announced as January 21, 2022, but it got postponed again due to the Omicron variant. Prithviraj will finally be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on June 3 worldwide.
