Pooja Bhatt On Brahmastra: Negativity Is On Social Media, Audience Visit Theaters Not For Hate

Pooja Bhatt commented on the negativity against her sister Alia Bhatt’s latest movie Brahmastra

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra is receiving mixed reviews after its much-awaited release. While a section of society is praising the movie, another part of society is showing hate. Some are boycotting the movie, some are trolling it and making poor comments. Bollywood is going through a dry run of box office and social media negativity. Pooja Bhatt commented on the negativity against her sister Alia Bhatt’s latest movie Brahmastra.

Actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt Brahmastra is a fine example of how a film can sail through any hate to win the audience’s hearts. She thinks the hatred towards films is just in the air on social media and not in reality. She experienced people visiting theaters simply to watch a film without any negativity. Pooja drew an example of Brahmastra starring her step-sister Alia Bhatt and actor Ranbir Kapoor.

In an interview with Indian Express, Pooja Bhatt said, “I saw Brahmastra, first day first show at 9 am. While I was with a group of 14 people, there was a large section of the audience that was there to simply watch a film. They were thoroughly entertained and were responding completely, fully. The audience responded, not like our industry trail audience where they sit back and (clap with a straight face, for the sake of it). The audience is not so stingy with their praise. They want to come and watch you win; they don’t come to hate.”

She further added, “All the hate is on social media, because that doesn’t cost much. But its costs to buy a ticket. You don’t buy a ticket hoping that the film is going to be bad. When we let them down, they let us know. When we don’t, they applaud and give us so much love. Perhaps there is more of a reference point for Brahmastra, because you can say, ‘Oh it is like Marvel’. But what are you going to compare this to?”

Pooja Bhatt will be next seen in R Balki’s psychological thriller Chup. Pooja says September is proof that Bollywood is making good films with Brahmastra and Chup releasing in the same month. Chup is a long-delayed film of R Balki and it will arrive in theaters on 23rd September. It also stars Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, and Shreya Dhanwanthary.
