Pankaj Tripathi Opens Up On Cancel Culture

Soon after the cancel culture aka the viral boycott trend started trending on social media, many actors and filmmakers opened up on the matter and shared their opinions on it, while many called it ‘stupid’ others were seen requesting the audience to boycott their films so that they can trend on social media, meanwhile, the recent celebrity to join the queue is the Mirzapur actor Pankaj Tripathi.

In a recent interview with IndiaToday.in, the Gangs Of Wasseypur actor shared, “Democracy me sabko apni baat rakhne ka adhikaar hai (In a democratic world, everyone has the right to voice their opinion). But at the same time, films are a big medium that generate revenue to the government. This revenue is then used for the betterment of the society. Lekin, sehemati ho ya nahi, (however, if they agree or not), this is each one’s individual right.”

Apart from Pankaj many other celebrities have also opened up on the matter, Taapsee Pannu who is currently gearing up for her film Dobaara was seen asking the audience to boycott her film so that it can at least trend on social media. Reacting to the trend, Anurag Kashyap said, “I am feeling left out. Even I want ki meri film boycott karo…please make our film trend on Twitter by boycotting.” Sharing her views on the matter actress Taapsee Pannu said, ” Yes please boycott Dobaaraa trend karva do…we also want to trend on Twitter.”

In an interview with Times of India, veteran actor Suniel Shetty said, “It’s unfair. We all work hard. We all aim to do well, our intentions are good. Aamir Khan’s intentions have always been good. He is somebody who could have chosen five films a year, but he chose to do one film in five years and I think we need to respect that. As far as Akshay Kumar goes, there is a continuous effort of wanting to do something and deliver entertaining films. We are entertainers and we go by public choice also.”

Meanwhile, the effect of the new trend can now be witnessed as Aamir Khan’s starrer Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan have opened up to a disappointing performance at the box office, while Laal Singh Chaddha collected Rs 10-11 crore net on day one of its releases. Raksha Bandhan on the other side barely managed to earn Rs 7.5 crore.
