As this iconic film marked 10 years today, Nushrratt Bharuccha expressed her gratitude for the film and character that put her on the bollywood film industry’s map. In this film directed by Luv Ranjan, the bollywood actress played the role of a totally cunning yet foxy and manipulative girlfriend named Neha with an exemplary performance that went on to become one of the most loved and iconic ones of all time.

In her recent interview conversation with a leading digital entertainment portal whilst expressing her gratitude for the film, Nushrratt said, “When I look back to the time we were shooting for Pyaar Ka Punchnama – none of us had the faintest clue what wonders this film will do for us, or even how this film will eventually turn into a power-packed franchise. Playing the controlling and manipulative girlfriend like Neha, was so not me in real life, which made it even more difficult for me to understand her and essay her right”.

She furthermore whilst talking about Pyaar Ka Punchnama (PKP) also added, “A lot of people then advised me to not do this film and wait for another better opportunity because this film had no known faces, a first time director, first time producer, the whole team was new. But PKP, opened up a world of opportunities for me, and ‘Neha’ literally marked me on the map of the industry and created a unique identity for the audience to remember me by. I truly believe in Destiny, and that the Universe has a larger plan for each of us. This is why I can honestly say, The film chose me, I didn’t choose the film. It was meant to be this way”.

Indeed this film was one of the bravest career choice and move made by Nushrratt to essay an iconic performance of a negative female lead with so much of sass and confidence along with finesse that many big bollywood actresses already said no to and since then she has never looked back and only risen higher by winning hearts of fans and audiences with strong performances in films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2016), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), Dreamgirl (2019), Chhalaang (2020), Ajeeb Daastaans (Netflix, 2021) and also has interesting sleuth of films like Chhori and Hurdang where audiences will be seeing her next.
