Neena Gupta comes from the time when Shabana Azmi was in the industry and a leading name. In an interview, Mrs. Gupta revealed that she lost many roles to Azmi.

Neena Gupta jealous of Shabana Azmi: Neena Gupta known for her unconventional roles experienced ups and down in her younger days losing films to Shabana Azmi. In an interview with Indian Express, the veteran actress told, “Long time back, I used to be jealous of Shabana Azmi because she used to get all the nice parts. There were many other actresses also. Sometimes I was told that we are doing this role but was thrown out from it.” Gupta further mentioned that she is now in a calm state with a variety of stories and roles she has in her kitty. She also added that she is her biggest competition aiming to beat herself in each venture.

An interesting fact is that Neena was forced to become an IAS officer by her parents, who were against her move to Mumbai to try luck in films but she fought and made her destiny in Bollywood.
