Popular Bollywood Fashion Designer Swapnil Shinde recently came out as a transwoman. He made this big announcement on Instagram as he changed his name to Saisha Shinde.
Model Navya Singh, who also identifies herself as a transwoman has congratulated Saisha Shinde (previously known as Swapnil Shinde) for coming out of the closet. During an interview with us, Navya said, “I feel good. Even the government has supported us by recognizing us as a third gender. So, society is changing. When I came out of the closet, I felt too good. I want to congratulate Saisha (Swapnil Shinde) for beginning her new journey. We both belong to the trans community, so the sisterhood will always be there.”

When Saisha came out to introduce her new identity, she posted a beautiful picture of herself and wrote, “All through school and college, while the boys outside tormented me because I was different, the internal pain was far worse. I felt suffocated living in a reality that I knew wasn’t mine, yet one that I had to stage every day because of societal expectations and norms. It was only in my early 20s at NIFT where I found the courage to accept my truth; I truly bloomed.”
She further added, “I spent the next few years believing that I was attracted to men because I was gay, but it was only 6 years ago that I finally accepted to myself, and today that I accept to you. I’m not a gay man. I am a transwoman.”
