Most Disappointing Bollywood Debuts Of 2022

Take a look at the disappointing Bollywood debut that hindered the reputations of many renowned artists.

Well, this year we saw many artists either new or from the television trying out their luck in the movies but at times their acting or debuting to do something experimental made their potential talent a disappointment.

Take a look at the most disappointed Bollywood debuts that could not make it this 2022-

1. Shirley Setia – Nikamma

Singer Shirley Setia’s long-awaited big-screen debut, Nikamma, turned out to be a huge disaster. Even the presence of Shilpa Shetty and Abhimanyu Dassani wasn’t enough to keep the film from a flop. A remake of Nani and Sai Pallavi’s hit Telugu film Middle-Class Abbayi, the film’s story revolves around a cheerful young man who eventually teams up with his hardworking sister-in-law to teach their mutual enemy a lesson. From mixed reviews to a poor office collection, Nikamma proved to be a huge disappointment to moviegoers.

2. Vijay Deverakonda – Liger

The popular face of Arjun Reddy aka Vijay Deverakonda recently made his Bollywood debut with the sports action drama Liger. The director of Puri Jagannadh, starring legendary American boxer Mike Tyson in an extended cameo, was set to break box office records, but in an interesting turn of events, Liger turned out to be one of 2022’s biggest disappointments. A report from India Today also suggested that Southstar had even refunded him the Rs 6 crores fee he took for the role after the box office debacle.

3. Manushi Chhillar – Samrat Prithviraj

This year didn’t seem to be doing good for Khiladi Kumar. While many expected Kumar to end his box office slump with historical drama Samrat Prithviraj, which was shot on a whopping Rs 300 crore budget, the film’s run ended at just 64.62 crores according to a website. Miss World 2017 winner Manushi Chhillar, who tried her hand at the role of Sanyogita in Samrat Prithviraj, made her Bollywood debut with the YRF-sponsored period drama.

4. Naga Chaitanya – Laal Singh Chaddha

Laal Singh Chaddha made some really big controversy but still was loved by the Indian audience. The remake of 1994 Forrest Grump had the Bollywood debut of Naga Chaitanya along with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan as he ventured into the Hindi film industry. A superstar in the Telegu Film industry could not make it into the Hindi film audience. While economists and moviegoers alike expected Laal Singh Chaddha to end Bollywood’s box office drought, the director of Advait Chandan fell short of expectations.

5. Andrea Kevichusa – Anek

While Doctor G by Ayushmann Khurrana did well, his ambitious project Anek starring newcomer Andrea Kevichusa failed to pull audiences into cinemas to trick into. While his performances received mixed reviews from critics and viewers alike, the director of Anubhav Sinha eventually landed on the list of the lowest-grossing films of 2022.

6. Khushalii Kumar – Dhokha: Round D Corner

The thriller genre may have become the latest Bollywood success mantra, but that was not the case for actress Khushalii Kumar, who made her acting debut earlier this year with Dhokha: Round D Corner. Despite powerful performances from acclaimed co-stars R Madhavan, Aparshakti Khurana, and Darshan Kumar, the film’s weak narrative and lack of plot twists that keep audiences in suspense meant the film received poor reviews online.
