As Meenakshi Seshadri makes headlines for her much-anticipated return to Bollywood, excitement among fans is palpable. Known as one of the most beloved actresses of all time, her decision to step away from the spotlight in the late 90s left many heartbroken. Now, as she prepares to re-enter the industry, audiences are eagerly awaiting her return. In a recent interview with Lehren Retro, Meenakshi Seshadri shared her thoughts on various topics, including her views on Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan’s political careers.
In her conversation with Lehren Retro, Meenakshi Seshadri on Chiranjeevi revealed some intriguing anecdotes from her career and expressed her admiration for the Megastar. She praised Chiranjeevi, who has predominantly worked in Telugu cinema but also made a mark in Hindi, Tamil and Kannada films. The two have shared the screen in movies like Aaj Ka Goonda Raj, Veera Marudhu and Aapadbandhavudu. When asked about Chiranjeevi and his brother Pawan Kalyan, she remarked, “I’ll leave them well alone,” clarifying that her comment was not out of rivalry but because she “does not understand that (politics) world”.
Meenakshi also recalled the time when she was approached to run for the same parliamentary position held by the late Sunil Dutt. She firmly declined, stating, “You got the wrong person!” She believes that a political personality must fully embrace the role and have the right attitude.
Reflecting on Chiranjeevi’s foray into politics, she noted, “Chiranjeevi is a mega super-duper star… how many adjectives you add, he is that big a superstar with a very big name.” She emphasized that great artists who truly understand their audience, like Rajesh Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Raj Babbar and Amitabh Bachchan, often transition into politics successfully. While she admired Chiranjeevi’s stature, she refrained from commenting on whether his political entry was right or wrong.
