The song Teri Mitti from Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari has created a lot of buzz post the Filmfare Awards. The heart touching song penned by Manoj Muntashir was defeated by Gully Boy’s Apna Time Aayega song, in the best lyricist category in the recently held Filmfare Awards.

The netizens didn’t seem happy by the decision and slammed the Filmfare Awards for their biased decision. Even the lyricist Manoj Muntashir took the oath never attending any award shows post this unjust treatment to his soul-steering song.

He expressed his unfiltered views by saying that he deserved a ‘better defeat’ and not to a song like Apna Time Aayega which uses abusive words.

In a recent interview, the disheartened lyricist expressed, “Award shows are meant to be entertaining  and ready to be sold to the highest bidder.” He further added that like any other commodity, these award shows are designed to generate wealth and profit for the organizers.”

Monoj later opened up about the bias nature of these famous award shows by saying, “The film industry is still stuck in medieval ages. Only an insider can tell you how unequally and heavy-handedly we are treated as opposed to the stars, who are stars because we decorate them with our skills.”

The lyricist further added that he would have accepted his defeat if he would have lost to iconic songwriters like Amitabh Bhattacharya or Irshad Kamil. He said that loosing to them would have been a ‘better defeat’. To explain his statement Manoj said, “Lord Krishna who was killed by a hunter. He deserved a better death, and I deserved a better defeat.”
