Maniesh Paul successfully completed his transition from presenter to actor with last year’s hit JugJugg Jeeyo. The video shows Maniesh taking the stage to accept his award. “Yeh just liye bohot naya hai. Mujhe udhar rehne ki aadat hai (This is new to me as I’ve been there before),” he says, referring to the host’s podium.

As his speech continues, Maniesh becomes visibly emotional and cries. “Malviya Nagar ke uss ladke ka, jisne bachpan mein sapna dekha to make films … bhaar hai uss ladke ka jo RJ ban ke Mumbai aaya, joactors ke saamne baithta tha, leta interviews tha aur sochta tha meri baari bhi aayegi (This represents the difficulties of the boy from Malviya Nagar who dreamed of becoming an actor. Of the boy who came to Mumbai as RJ and interviewing actors hoping to become one).
Maniesh also thanked his family and the people who had brought him down on his “amazing” journey. He added: “There were people who would say he’s a presenter, why would you take him as an actor? I want to thank you all. Aapne nicha nahi dikhaya hota to Maniesh upar udne ka sapna nahi dekhta (If you hadn’t knocked me down, I wouldn’t have dreamed of flying high).

Maniesh Paul shared the video on Instagram and wrote, “Thank you all so much for giving this boy Malviya Nagar so much love!” Maniesh began his acting career in 2007 with the TV show Chhoona Hai Aasmaan. He worked on various shows before becoming a host for reality shows like India’s Got Talent and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. He made his Bollywood debut in 2013’s Mickey Virus and has appeared in films such as Tere Bin Laden 2 and Ranbanka.
