Mandakini has made a comeback in the industry after almost two decades. She got her breakthrough role in the 1985 popular film Ram Teri Ganga Maili. She was roped alongside Raj Kapoor’s son Rajiv Kapoor in the film. She later appeared in many Bollywood films and took a break in 1996. Returning to the industry after 26 years Mandakini has commented on the current scenario of Bollywood surrounded by boycott trends and nepotism.
The industry is in a bad state where people are boycotting film and not a single movie performing well at theaters as a result. The actress who has recently launched her first single Maa O Maa spoke on the boycott trend. In an interview, she said, “I don’t support this boycott culture. Artists and technicians work really hard and a lot of effort goes into making a film. People should go and watch movies in the theatres. An artist is always an artist. Whatever he is doing is for the public’s entertainment.”
For the uninitiated Mandakini’s son, Rabbil Thakur has made his debut in the industry with new music video Maa O Maa. Mandakini also reacted to nepotism, “As far as nepotism is concerned, I think it is quite a natural phenomenon. When an actor is working, his children grow up in that atmosphere. It is natural for the kids to feel like doing the same thing that their parents are doing. Children accompany their parents on sets and social events. They meet directors, producers, and other actors there. So it is natural to get influenced and there is nothing wrong in following your parents’ footsteps.”
Earlier in an interview talking about her new music video, the former actress said, “Maa O Maa is a very beautiful song and I instantly fell in love with it. The best part of this song is that my son is playing the lead.”
The 59-year-old actress has returned with a soulful track Maa O Maa showcasing the mother-son dynamic. She worked on several films before taking a break and her last screen appearance was in the 1996 film Zordaar.
