She created a permanent niche for herself as a sex symbol of Bollywood since primarily all her bollywood films were known for their bold and alluring steamy scenes. The 44 years old stunning Bollywood star started off by telling, “I faced a lot of opposition from my family. I battled patriarchy. My father is extremely conservative. My mother also, my brother also. I had no support at all”.
She also shared, “I was so naive and innocent. I said, main toh bag ke aise ban jaungi actress. Aur mein actually bhag gayi ghar se”.
She also spoke up on how she would’ve been married if she didn’t run away from home and luckily she did and talking about this, she said, “Luckily, everything worked out”.
She furthermore continued, “I always had money, because I had a lot of jewelry, which I sold and financed my trip to Mumbai, but more than that it was emotional distress for me. My drama with the family and my father disapproving and saying that I disown you. And my mother being heartbroken. There was a rift in the family. That caused a lot of heartbreak for me”.
Speaking about the difficulties she faced, Mallika added that everyone takes time to absorb the culture after coming to a big city like Mumbai. But the actress revealed that she settled quickly.
Mallika was last seen in RK/RKAY which had a theatrical release in the US and Canada only. Directed by Rajat Kapoor, the film also featured Rajat Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey, Chandrachoor Rai, Kubbra Sait and Manu Rishi Chadha among others.
