An insider said, “In a pre-emptive move, the makers are now planning to rewrite the song to avoid legal repercussions. A final call will be taken this week. With the dance number being called out for racism, it will be an unwise move to take on an international star like Beyoncé, especially at a time when the Black Lives Matter movement has set the stage for equality.”

Apart from the song, the trailer of Khaali Peeli has also received over 1.7 million downvotes on YouTube its release. With the sentiments of nepotism running high across the country, the film has been facing a lot of backlash from the general public.

The makers of the film decided to take the OTT route pertaining to the coronavirus situation in the country. The cinema halls across the country remain shut since mid-March.
