Sufi song ‘Mere Maula’ from the upcoming Hindi film ‘WhatsApp Love’ is creating a buzz among music lovers these days. This beautiful song was released under the banner of HM Music on the occasion of Eid this year. Sahil Sultanpuri is garnering a lot of appreciation for penning the lyrics of this soulful song.
Nitin Shankar has composed the music and Shabab Sabri has lent his voice for the song that stars popular actor Raqesh Bapat.
Talking exclusively with Lehren, lyricist Sahil Sultanpuri said that he is overwhelmed with the kind of response the song is receiving. He said that his social media is flooded with positive reviews and congratulatory messages.
When asked about his experience of working on this song, he said, “It was a great experience. I feel blessed to work with composer Nitin Shankar. It is every artist’s dream to work with him. I find myself lucky to have got this opportunity and I also got to learn a lot from him.”
Prior to this, Sahil wrote the lyrics of the popular song ‘Akhiyaan Milavanga’ from the Hindi action film Commando 3 starring Vidyut Jammwal and Adah Sharma. The song was sung by Arijit Singh and Sruthy S and it became one of the most popular and viral songs of 2020.

Sahil has been a part of the industry since 1999 and has worked with many legendary artists like Asha Bhosle. Sahil penned three songs for the 2013 Hindi film ‘Mai’ that marked the acting debut of singer Asha Bhosle. He was also appreciated for his work as a lyricist in the 2016 Bollywood film ‘Saat Uchakkey’ starring Manoj Bajpayee, Kay Kay Menon, Annu Kapoor, Anupam Kher and Vijay Raaz.
His other noteworthy work includes writing down the lyrics for the title track of the popular Hindi comedy film ‘Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamana’. The film stars Rekha, Mahima Chaudhry and Ashmit Patel in lead roles. Sahil was highly appreciated by evergreen diva Rekha for penning the catchy lyrics for the film’s title track.
