Ever since the release of Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal trailer starring Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan has dropped on YouTube, there have been many comparisons between Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer 2009 film with the same name. Post the trailer launch when Saif was questioned if he watched the trailer, on which the actor said that he liked his film’s trailer more.
Recently during an interview, Saif Ali Khan clarified what he meant by liking his films’ trailer more. The actor said, “When I said that I prefer my films’ trailer more to that of my daughter’s I was trying to do was to crack a mildly competitive joke with Sara.”
Saif then went on to say that although he liked his films’ trailer more, Sara and Kartik’s film is completely different from what his and Deepika’s film, it is not right to compare the two. He also expressed that he is possessive over the idea of director choosing the same name for the film.
He further added, “I don’t want to come across the wrong way because of course what I said was a joke. A little bit teasing is good.”
While many are questioning Imtiaz for remaking his own movie, Saif said that Love Aaj Kal belongs to a genre that is popular amongst all generations. The film can be made anytime whenever the language and idea about love change in society.
Apart from Love Aaj Kal’s chartbuster songs, Kartik and Sara’s chemistry has also become the talk of the town. When Saif was quizzed about their chemistry he said, “I think it is very interesting. Both of them are tremendously popular actors. I am sure that people are going to flock to see the movie.”
