Liger Distributor Confirms Puri Jagannadh Will Compensate After He Thinks Film Was Sabotaged

Distributor Warangal Srinu thinks the film has been sabotaged and this is ruining the families of poor crew members

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer Liger fall flat at the box office. Anticipated to make big at the box office the sports drama end up collecting approximately 37 crores so far. Warangal Srinu, the south India region distributor of Liger, spoke on the poor performance of the film. He thinks the film has been sabotaged and this is ruining the families of poor crew members.

The film turned to be the biggest disaster of 2022 in the industry as it is still struggling to mint money at the ticket window. Amid huge hype, Liger opened up in cinemas last week but didn’t meet expectations. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film failed to impress the audience.

In an interview with Times of India, Warangal Srinu said, “Sabotage is the word. I haven’t lost 100 crore in one year. But I have lost a lot of money, no doubt. As on Liger, I have lost something to the tune of 65 per cent of my investment.”

Warangal Srinu has also confirmed that director Puri Jagannadh has a plan to meet distributors in Hyderabad to talk about the losses and compensate for it. There are many causes to be tagged as reasons for failure. Some point out Vijay’s rude behavior before the release, while some target Ananya’s poor acting, whereas some are reasoning the story. Result is that Liger failed miserably receiving negative reviews since day 1. Now according to distributor Warangal Srinu, Puri Jagannadh will meet distributors to discuss their demands and compensate for them after the film failed at theaters.

Warangal also said, “I suspect someone is trying to malign me, needlessly. There are camps even within the industry that work against each other. I was referred to as the man with a golden touch so far and now suddenly out of nowhere, baseless things are being written about me, without checking the facts. I quite liked Liger. Only the last 7-10 minutes of the climax wasn’t up to the mark. A lot of my friends who saw it with their families had the same opinion.”

Liger is a sports action drama directed by Puri Jagannadh and backed by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. It features a cameo of Mike Tyson along with lead cast Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday. The film marked the debut of Vijay in Bollywood. Ananya is now gearing up for Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.
