Versatile actor Sharad Kelkar is garnering a lot of praise for his role in the movie Laxmii. Although the film features Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani as the main lead, it is Sharad who has become the center of attention. He is being hailed for his brilliant performance in the movie and fans can’t wait to see more of him on the screen. Recently, Sharad Kelkar candidly spoke about his views on OTT release and cinema release.
In his recent interview with Koimoi, the actor also spoke about his experience of watching movies in theatres during his childhood. This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the theatres across the country were shut down for safety reasons. Owing to this reason, many of the filmmakers took an OTT route to release their movies. Laxmii also released on streaming giant Disney+ Hotstar.
Matter of fact, Laxmii received record-breaking viewership on the first day of its release on the OTT platform. Speaking on his OTT release and cinema release, Sharad Kelkar revealed that he prefers watching films in theatres.
Kelkar said, “I am a cinema lover. I don’t watch films on OTT first of all. Since childhood I love watching films in theatres.”
He further added, “My family is a movie buff. I have been watching films in theatres only. Even after satellite came, if I want to watch a film, I prefer going to theatres. Even if it’s a south film or a dubbed remake or a English to Hindi, I prefer watching it in theatres.”
Well, it seems like Sharad Kelkar will have to adjust a bit to the new normal. Even though theatres have opened up with 50% capacity, it will be interesting to how many footfalls happen for a big budget movie.
