Lata Mangeshkar’s Last Song Was A Tribute To The Indian Army

Queen of melody Lata Mangeshkar left for heavenly abode today. She passed away at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure after battling Covid and pneumonia for a month. In her remarkable career of about seven decades, she lent her voice for over a thousand songs, across 36 languages. She was honoured with prestigious awards like Bharat Ratna and Dadasaheb Phalke Award for her contribution to the Indian music industry.

With her sad demise, people around the world are remembering her with the legacy of music she has left behind. Her songs, her melody will remain with us for thousands of years to come.

Lata Mangeshkar’s Last Song:

Lata Mangeshkar recorded her last song ‘Saugandh Mujhe Is Mitti Ki’  as a tribute to the Indian Army and nation. It was composed by Mayuresh Pai and was released on 30 March 2019. It is available on LM Music YouTube channel and has crossed over a million views.

In the video, Lata Ji said, “A few days ago, I met PM Narendra Modi. He recited a few lines from a poem that I feel is the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ of every Indian. Those lines touched my heart as well. I have recorded them and I pay a tribute to our soldiers and our country.”

The entire nation is mourning Lata Mangeshkar’s death today. The last rites of the late singer, with full State honours will be conducted at Shivaji Park at 6.30 pm today.
