Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan has delivered many blockbusters and critically acclaimed films in his career spanning over three decades. While each work of an artist is close to his heart, Shahrukh Khan has revealed in the past that his 1994 film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ is his favourite.
But did you know that this film wouldn’t have been released if Shahrukh Khan hadn’t helped director Kundan Shah?
When Shahrukh Khan made a transition from TV to films, he signed ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’. Alongside, he also signed Kundan Shah’s film ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ for Rs 25,000. The shooting for the film was completed on time, but Kundan was unable to find any distributors for the film.
Shahrukh went on to feature in films like ‘Deewana’, ‘Baazigar’, and ‘Darr’. With the release of these films, he had become a star. But Kundan Shah was still struggling to find distributors for ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’. Seeing Kundan Shah under stress for years, Shahrukh stepped up and talked to a producer. He himself expressed his desire to buy the film rights.
Eventually, Venus and Shahrukh Khan collectively bought the film rights and released it on big screens. Director Kundan Shah later told that his film was released only because of Shahrukh Khan.
