Tandav which initially started with lots of fanfare on Amazon Prime Video, helmed by noted film maker Ali Abbas Zafar and had managed to strike the right notes with audiences as they all and fans were thrilled and over joyed to see ensemble star cast of finely nuanced actors like Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Sarah Jane Dias, Sunil Grover, Kritika Kamra, Gauahar Khan and many more come together on screen, soon found itself soaked in the murky and hot waters as the people and netizens started going against it since it ended up hurting many religious sentiments and our Hindu religion within a particular scene right in the first episode itself.

With troubles not ending anytime soon for the makers of the series and people involved in it, amidst this ongoing raging controversy, Bollywood actress Konkona Sen Sharma also reacted to the Supreme Court’s verdict.

Taking to her official twitter handle, she wrote a tweet that read, “Almost all involved in the show have read the script and signed the contract! Let’s arrest the whole cast and crew?”.

After Konkona’s this tweet, several social media users commented. Where one follower said, “Good you support this. Kindly convey to ur colleagues to be careful next time or be cooperative in the whole arresting process. Hope you are not that Bengali jo jai shree ram bolne pr bhadak jaye”. While another one told, “Thank you! This is unacceptable! No other religion of culture allows this to happen. All involved must go to prison! #tandavban  #TandavOnPrime”.

Stellar Bollywood star Zeeshan Ayyub’s lawyer Siddharth Agrawal fought tooth and nail wherein he defended the alleged and objectionable part saying that as an actor, he has no artistic control on the dialogues spoken by him. To this the bench of judges ended up saying, “You cannot take up a role without reading the script. You cannot play a role in hurting the religious sentiments of others”. Not only stopping themselves here, but the apex court and institution i.e. the Supreme Court of India also said, “Your right to freedom of speech is not absolute. You cannot play the role of a character that hurts the sentiments of a community”.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court of India gave its verdict whereby they did not give any relief to the makers and actors of Tandav citing that, “right to freedom of speech is not absolute”.
