“Koi Rishta Hi Nahi Tha..”: Akshay Oberoi On His Rift With Vivek Oberoi And Suresh Oberoi

Akshay Oberoi said that he never had any bond with Vivek Oberoi and Suresh Oberoi which is why he never agrees that he is a nepotim kid.

Rose to fame with the film Fighter, Akshay Oberoi initially started his career with theatres. A well-known actor in Bollywood, when Akshay stepped into the film industry, more than half of the public did not know that he is connected to Bollywood’s Oberoi family. However, after he grew to fame, and people began to surf more about the blue-eyed boy, it came to everybody’s notice that Akshay is the first cousin of Vivek Oberoi and nephew to actor-politician Suresh Oberoi. Addressing his distant relationship with the Oberoi father-son duo, actor Akshay Oberoi has recently revealed that they never shared a good bond with each other.

Akshay Oberoi Addresses Being A ‘Nepo-Kid’

In a latest interview, Fighter starrer Akshay Oberoi was asked if he counts himself as a ‘nepo kid’, because of his association to Oberoi family. Reacting to it, Akshay said, “there must be many people who don’t even know that I am related to Vivek Oberoi and Suresh Oberoi. So, this tag of “being a nepo-kid” was never applicable for me.” Adding further he said that the audience is very smart and they would definitely know how Akshay, an individual has struggled so far to make a space for himself in the industry, and after a lot of hardwork has reached the peak.

As the star sheds more light on his estranged bond with brother Vivek and uncle Suresh Oberoi, he mentions, Koi rishta hi nahi tha. I wish koi rishta hota mazboot so mai unse salah mashwara toh leleta”. He believes that such additional support and help to movr ahead in the film-line really matters a lot.

Not Even Karan Johar Knew About My Relations With Vivek Oberoi

Calling himself as a victim of reverse nepotism, Akshay clearly stated that because he never shared any close bond with Vivek Oberoi, he counts himself as a complete outsider. Surprisingly, Akshay revealed that not even film producer Karan Johar was aware that Akshay and Vivek Oberoi are brothers, and that their families are connected with such a close blood relation.

Akshay has previously worked in films like Pizza, Gurgaon and Fighter. As of the next projects, his upcoming film Toxic is in the making where he will be sharing the screen space with KGF star Yash. Also, next he will also be seen in Sunny Sanskari’s Tulsi Kumari. Talking about this film – he informed Varun Dhawan, and Janhvi Kapoor are the cast of the film alongwith other actors like Rohit Sarraf, and Maniesh Paul. Post that, Akshay is also coming up with a psychological thrilled – Resident as his third film in line.
