Fresh off her wedding to long-time beau Antony Thattil which took place on December 12, 2024 in a grand ceremony in Goa, Keerthy has been in the spotlight. Not only has her wedding been the talk of the town but her decision to keep wearing the Mangalsutra (sacred turmeric wedding thread) during her film promotions has also caught everyone’s attention. However, in a recent interview Keerthy shared a beautiful moment from her wedding that made everyone emotional — and it involved Alia Bhatt’s 2 States wedding song.

In the interview with Galatta India, Keerthy spoke about how Alia Bhatt’s ‘2 States’ Wedding Song titled ‘Ullam Paadum’ became a dream track for her wedding day. The song which plays during a pivotal wedding scene in the movie 2 States, has always held a special place in Keerthy’s heart. She shared how she and Antony always dreamed of playing this song during their own wedding and when it finally happened, it was an incredibly emotional moment for not just them but everyone present.

Keerthy recalled the moment when her now-husband Antony Thattil was tying the Mangalsutra and how the traditional South Indian wedding music Nadha Sawram played. “When he was tying the Mangalsutra, they played ‘Nadha Sawram,’ and immediately after that, for Jagadish, who is our brother and friend, we played this music from 2 States,” Keerthy explained. She continued, “It’s a very emotional song for us, and even before the wedding, when we would think about the day we would get married and play this music, all of us would have tears in our eyes.”

The actress then shared that when she first posted pictures from her wedding on social media, it was this very song that accompanied the images. “It’s a very emotional song for us, and when we thought of the day, we knew this song would make us all tear up,” she said, emphasizing how deeply connected she felt to it. Keerthy also revealed that the song’s Tamil lyrics held an added emotional weight for her, making it even more special.

Keerthy’s emotional connection to the song is evident, especially when she described how it made her and her guests feel on the big day. “Immediately after Nadha Sawram stopped, they played this song and that’s when I literally started tearing up because the meaning of the song is very very emotional,” Keerthy shared. “It’s very sweet, and it’s also in Tamil, so I connected to it a lot.”
