Karan’s Ambitious Historical Drama Film Takht Gets Shelved

According to the latest media reports, one of the most ambitious projects of noted film maker Karan Johar titled Takht, which was announced with much fanfare back in 2019, has gotten shelved permanently which is an upsetting news for film fanatics that Karan’s ambitious historical drama film Takht gets shelved.

The movie which had an ensemble star cast of Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor has gotten scrapped entirely which is a mellow news update for B town and fans as they won’t be able to see their favorite actors since Karan’s ambitious historical drama film Takht gets shelved.

Touted as one of the biggest and huge films of the year 2021, the multi starrer magnum opus and most awaited film Takht that boasted of the ace and nuanced starlets like Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor got the fandoms in India and across the globe really perked up and excited for this film as they couldn’t wait to see this ensemble star cast creating the magic together on screen. But now, the most recent development of the day here is that Karan’s ambitious historical drama film Takht gets shelved.

According to the latest news reports, this film is not going to see the light of the day since now the film which had been announced with lots of fanfare and cheers in 2019, is in the news for being shelved.

Before being shelved, there were reports of the film being put on a hold indefinitely because of COVID 19 but now the latest news reports clearly say that Takht has been permanently shelved. A source close to this recent development in his interview byte with a leading digital entertainment portal was quoted telling, “Karan Johar’s ambitious project Takht has been shelved permanently. It was put on hold due to COVID-19 earlier. However, the team developing it have been having a hard time sort their creative differences and be on the same page”.

The source also added this bit, “While Takht may not be happening, Karan Johar has been working on a love story for which he is considering Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt as the leads”.

Karan had worked on this story entirely in the lockdown last year and also recently narrated the story to both Ranveer and Alia who really loved it and gave their verbal nod to the film. It was also reported earlier that Karan will be himself directing this film which is going to be a love story embedded with fun vibes and is going away from his serious zone and would be making something iconic along the lines of his debut film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
