The Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham 2001 film has had the biggest hand in Karan Johar’s successful project to date. The film grabbed the hearts of people, starring outstanding actors Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. While we know that no one can take the place of SRK as Rahul and Kajol as Anjali, Karan had this in mind. He had admitted in an old interview that he wanted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to be the female lead in that film.
In an interview with Komal Nahta, Karan expressed how he wanted to cast Aishwarya in the role of Anjali as Kajol had just gotten married. He continued by stating that he believed the actress, who had previously collaborated with him on Kuch Kuch Hota, was preparing to start a family. He met with Kajol once, even though he was adamant about casting Aish in the film. When he arrived at Kajol’s studio that day at 3 p.m., he continued, “I thought she would say no; we would cry; and I would leave.”
He further stated that When he told Kajol about the story, she liked it and agreed to do it, so Karan decided not to meet Aishwarya. Karan expressed how he could not work with her until Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016) for one reason or another.
Talking about his current project, Karan is all set to make his comeback on the big screen after seven years with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani. The film will star Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles.
