Karan Johar Pays Emotional Tribute To Father Yash Johar

In 1980, Dharma Productions started by Yash Johar released it's first film. As it completes 40 years, Karan Johar paid an emotional tribute.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has paid an emotional tribute to his late father Yash Johar. The occasion being the completion of 40 years to Dharma Productions. Yash Johar laid the foundation of Dharma in 1976 and it’s first film ‘Dostana’ was released in 1980. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha and Zeenat Aman. It turned out to be the highest-grossing Bollywood film of that year.

After Yash Johar’s death, Karan Johar took over Dharma in 2004. As the first film of Dharma completed 40 years, Karan took to his Instagram to pay an emotional tribute to his father.

He shared a very old picture of a younger version of himself posing with his father. Karan wrote in the caption, “40 years ago on this date you released your first film DOSTANA and thus began a company that was so close to your heart….all your tremendous karma is in every sunshine ray of @dharmamovies ….all we have done is bask in the glory of your goodwill…. we stand tall because of your teachings and pray everyday that you are proud of all of us Papa! Dharma is a result of so many of us who strive everyday to spread cheer at the movies…we miss you …but we feel your hand on our head and that gives us the courage to combat and to create ….I love you so much Papa…”

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Karan Johar tweeted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a big announcement. He said that the film fraternity has special plans to celebrate 75 years of independence. He further told that the industry will make ‘inspiring content about valour, values and the culture of India’.

Rajkumar Hirani, Aanand L Rai, Ekta Kapoor, Sajid Nadiadwala, Rohit Shetty and Dinesh Vijan and other prominent figures will be contributing to this vision of Karan Johar.
