Karan Johar Calls Off The London Schedule For Dostana 2

The novel coronavirus pandemic has brought the Bollywood industry to a screeching halt. Due to which the shooting of many films has been left incomplete until the pandemic subsides. Amongst those films is Karan Johar’s much-awaited film Dostana 2 featuring Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya.

The film is going to be a remake of the 2008 film Dostana starring Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan, and John Abraham. The more than a decade old film was based on homosexuality and the Tarun Mansukhani directed did its job of normalizing conversations around the gay community. The film did an average business at the Box Office but is mostly remembered for its comedy and songs.

Speaking of Dostana 2, the film was expected to be released at the end of the year 2020. The sequel is going to mark the debut of actor Lakshya and director Collin D’Cunha. It is amongst the much-awaited films of 2020. Sadly, the lockdown imposed because of the COVID-19 outbreak is playing a hurdle in the filming of the movie. In a recent interaction, Karan Johar revealed that Dostana 2  was half complete before the shoots got indefinitely postponed.

Karan further added that the makers were to shoot an extensive part of the movie in London but now the writing team was rewritten an important plot of the film. He didn’t mention where the scenes will be shot but it is speculated that it will be shot somewhere in India.

A source close to the development said, “London had become one of the most popular destinations for film shoots for Bollywood filmmakers as the government offer a huge rebate. In fact, in the first 2 ½ months of 2020, as many as 5 films were shot there were released – Bhangra Paa Le, Street Dancer, Jawaani Jaaneman, Happy Hardy And Heer, and Angrezi Medium.”

It further added, “But now UK is one of the countries with the maximum COVID-19 cases. Producers will be wary of going there and also actors would prefer to stay away from Europe and America till the situation gets better. As a result, one can expect most of the shoots to happen in India itself.”

Well, this not the first time that Dostana 2 has faced an external hurdle. As back in November 2019, the team had to call-off their shooting schedule in Delhi because of the increased level of air pollution in the nation’s capital.
