Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor has finally tested negative for Covid-19. News agency ANI tweeted on Saturday, “Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor’s fifth #Covid19 test result comes negative. However, she will have to stay at PGI Hospital Lucknow until one more test result comes as negative.”

Kanika had earlier tested positive five times in ten days. She was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Lucknow after she showed symptoms on March 20. She is the first high profile coronavirus case reported in India so far. After her fifth test turned out to be positive, Director of the institute, Prof RK Dhiman said that her condition was stable and there was nothing to worry about. He also said that her treatment will continue till the time she tests negative in two consecutive tests.

Kanika Kapoor had shared on Instagram that she was not in the ICU and wished for her next test to be negative so that she could go back home with her family.

Kanika had returned to Mumbai from London on March 9 and then traveled to Kanpur and Lucknow. She reportedly stayed in a 5-star hotel and attended several social gatherings where she came in contact with several VIPs and politicians. The singer faced much backlash for escaping the mandatory quarantine post her return from abroad, thus putting the lives of others in danger.

She later made news when she complained about the facilities and treatment in the hospital, but the hospital authorities slammed her for ‘throwing star tantrums’ and asked her to ‘behave like a patient’.
