Kangana Ranaut Starrer Dhaakad To Not Release In Diwali 2020?

Due to the on-going global pandemic, Kangana Ranaut starrer Dhaakad will not release this year Diwali. There is no clarity when it can go on the floors. Read below to know more.

The nationwide lockdown due to the novel coronavirus outbreak has brought the Bollywood industry to a standstill. The shooting of various ventures has been halted and the release date of many films has been postponed until the situation comes back to normalcy. The new name to join the list is Kangana Ranaut starrer Dhaakad.

Produced by Sohail Maklai whose last film Knock-Out released eight years ago has found his new project stuck because of the novel coronavirus outbreak. In a recent interview, Maklai who has bankrolled the Anubhav Sinha directed Dus and Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya starring Aishwarya Rai and Sunny Deol said, Dhaakad was to have its first major schedule in April. Obviously that got mowed down by the virus. We had then planned for July because Kangana’s shooting for her Jayalalitha biopic got postponed from July. Now, I don’t see even that happening. I seriously doubt we can start shooting in July.”

When asked if the film will release in Diwali of 2020, Maklai replied that yes they had announced a Diwali release an also had the entire schedule worked out but the virus has given a hard blow to the entire entertainment industry. The virus has hit so bad that no one has a map for the road ahead.

But one thing Sohail is sure about Dhaakad is that it will be made and made without any compromise. He further added, “My director Razneesh Ghai is a high-profile name in the ad world. He has made three ads with Kangana and she shares a wonderful rapport with him. Our script for Kangana is sure to take her to the next level.”

For the unversed, Kangana has also featured in Maklai’s last production venture Knock-Out. Maklai concluded by saying, “We all excited about Dhaakad. But there is no clarity right now about when it would go on the floors. When we put out the poster little did we know what was in store. In Mumbai, cinema seems like very low priority right now. First, we need to survive this crisis. Then we’ll see. Once shooting is resumed we’ll plunge into Dhaakad.”

On the work front, Kangana Ranaut will be next seen in Vijay’s Jayalalithaa biopic titled Thalaivi. The film is slated to hit the big screen on June 26, 2020.
