Kangana Ranaut says Deepika Padukone should ‘apologize’ for hurting the sentiments of acid attack survivors

Deepika Padukone has been receiving flak on social media for putting up a video where a Tik Tok influencer recreates her Chhapaak look, actress Kangana also criticized her for this and need an explanation for the same.

Deepika Padukone has once again courted controversy. The actress is getting lots of criticism on social media for challenging an influencer from TikTok to recreate three of her looks from her movies-Piku, Om Shanti Om and Chhapaak. Users of social media bashed the actress as a’ look’ to refer to the face of an acid attack survivor. She is being trolled relentlessly for her TikTok video. And many people like Kangana Ranaut want Deepika to apologize. For the unversed, the sister of Kangana Ranaut, Rangoli Chandel, is a survivor of an acid attack and after watching DP’s TikTok video she was offended.

Kangana told a weekly, in response to the social media outrage on Deepika Padukone’s video “Rangoli is an acid attack survivor and she was very hurt seeing the video. Sometimes, marketing teams tend to go overboard with their promotions, and I am sure Deepika must be having some explanation for this.” She also said Deepika must apologize to the survivors of the acid attack who are also hurt. “The people who are hurt like my sister should be apologized to. This is not a make-up look and nobody should try and achieve it. That kind of insensitivity should be apologized for and there is no harm in doing that because we all make mistakes,” she stated.

The actress had earlier expressed her views on the visit of the Chhapaak actress to JNU before commenting on Deepika’s TikTok video. I think women should support women and I am not somebody to comment on what Deepika has done or should have done. She was exercising her democratic right, but if I were given the choice I would never stand behind the Tukde Tukde gang,” she said to a portal. Now, how Deepika would respond to social media outrage in her video remains to be seen.
