But the film has managed to land itself into a legal case, even before its release as one of the scenes from the trailer of the movie didn’t go down well with some.

According to multiple reports, an NGO called ‘Youth against crime’ has filed a complaint legally at the Delhi high court against the Ranveer Singh starrer film because of a specific scene from the trailer of the movie. For the unversed, it’s a scene that openly shows a banned procedure in India, ‘Prenatal sex determination.

A scene from the trailer shows how Ranveer Singh’s character Jayesh, takes his pregnant wife, a character played by Shalini Pandey, to a hospital to visit a gynaecologist with his entire family. During the same scene, Jayesh’s father, played by Boman Irani, asks the gynaecologist to reveal the gender of the unborn baby. He can be further seen left devastated when the doctor reveals the gender of the baby, a daughter, by secretly giving away the information through a code.

It is now revealed, that this scene, in particular, has made the NGO members furious to an extent that they had to move to the High Court. The plea was placed by advocate Pawan Prakash Pathak, who claimed that the makers of the movie have indirectly motivated female foeticide in our country, and has accused them of instigating others for the use of Ultrasound techniques to identify the gender of the baby.

For the unversed, diagnosis of the gender of an unborn child through ultrasound is an illegal practice in India, punishable under the Indian law under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994. According to the advocate, the plea is to strongly oppose this practice promoted in the film quite openly, he said, “The ultrasound clinic scene where the technology of ultrasound for sex selection is being advertised openly without censor and as per section 3, 3A, 3B, 4, 6 & 22 of the PC & PNDT Act, same is not allowed & hence the instant PIL.”
