Anil Kapoor graced the Koffee With Karan 7 with his Jug Jugg Jeeyo co-star Varun Dhawan. They held a fun conversation talking about work, marriage, nepotism, and more. In a candid conversation with the host Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor recalled the time when he was insecure of Jackie Shroff during the initial days of their career.
Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff have shared the screen in many films including their most famous Ram Lakhan and Parinda. The two share a great bond which is seen on screen as well as off-screen. Not just that they share a sibling-like bond. And when Bhidu dada came across to statement made by his filmy brother he reacted to it.
For the unversed, Anil and Jackie started their career at the same time, the latter was an outsider whereas Mr. Lakhan belonged to a filmy family. Yet Dada got a big break and the privilege to be launched by ace director Subhash Ghai. Recalling this time at the Koffee with Karan show after years Anil revealed he was not quite happy with Jackie registering himself as an A-lister actor with his first film.
The actor had said, “Jackie was an outsider in a way, but still he got the first break from Subhash Ghai. So, he himself became like an A-lister with just that one announcement. I was doing bit roles at that time and I was doing South Indian films. I would say I was not feeling good about it.” To this Karan questioned Anil, “Did you feel insecure about Jackie’s success at that time?” To which, the actor responded, “Well yeah. He became a huge, huge success.”
A couple of days later in an interview with Times Now, Jackie Shroff reacted to the comments made by Anil Kapoor. He said, “It is normal to look up to your older brother. But I know he is a guy who really, really cares for me deep down in his heart and what he says is such a beautiful emotional display which not many people say it. His heart is absolutely clean and he speaks what he feels. That gives me a lot of credit. When a man of his caliber says that, he is giving me so much respect.”
On the work front, Jackie Shroff was last seen in Aditya Roy Kapur’s starrer Rashtra Kavach Om. He would be next playing a major role in Zee5 original Atithi Bhooto Bhava that will premiere on 23rd September. He is also a part of Katrina Kaif starrer Phone Bhoot. On the other hand, Anil Kapoor has 4 mega projects, including Animal, Fighter, Bindra, and Captain.
