Kalki Koechlin has had a remarkable journey in Bollywood, charming audiences with her roles in films like Shanghai, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. She first made waves with her debut in the 2009 romantic comedy Dev D, directed by her ex-husband, Anurag Kashyap. Their relationship blossomed during filming, leading to marriage in 2011. However, the couple faced challenges and eventually separated in 2015 after six years together.
In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Kalki Koechlin shared some surprising insights about her past relationship with Anurag. Now happily in a relationship with Israeli musician Guy Hershberg, she confirmed her pregnancy with him on September 30, 2019. Their daughter was born on February 7, 2020, through water birth. During the interview, which focused on love and relationships, the anchor asked Kalki to share “three thank yous and a sorry” for her ex or exes.
Without directly naming Anurag, Kalki’s comments made it clear she was referring to him. Her first thank you was about the lessons learned during their time together. She said, “Thank you for teaching me to counter. Like, if I’m doing a very good intense role, come back home and make sure you do something really fun and silly afterwards.”
For her second thank you, Kalki emphasized their continued friendship: “Thank you for remaining my friend.” But it was her third thank you that really stood out: “Thank you for teaching me how to live without you!” As she rolled her eyes and laughed, she added, “That’s a little bitter.”
Kalki also shared her one sorry, saying, “We met at the wrong time,” reflecting on their relationship’s timing.
When asked about her current relationship, Kalki Koechlin proudly shared that her bond with Guy Hershberg has lasted seven years, longer than her previous relationship. During her time with Anurag, they even attended marriage counseling to address their issues before ultimately deciding to part ways.
Kalki has previously expressed regret about being too open about her personal life, mentioning that it often overshadows her work. Since her divorce, she has chosen to keep her private life mostly out of the spotlight.
Despite rumors linking her to other Bollywood stars, she has consistently denied these claims. Interestingly, she and Anurag have collaborated on projects, including the 2010 thriller That Girl in Yellow Boots and the Netflix series Sacred Games Season 2. Anurag also served as a co-producer for Kalki’s English film Goldfish (2022).
Kalki Koechlin’s candid comments reveal her growth after her relationship with Anurag Kashyap. While she acknowledges the lessons learned, she also emphasizes the importance of moving on. With a loving partner and a beautiful daughter, Kalki seems to be embracing a fulfilling life ahead.
