HIT: The First Case Director Says Rajkummar Rao Was His First Choice

Rajkummar Rao was the only one on director Sailesh Kolanu’s wishlist for HIT: The First Case

Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘HIT: The First Case’. The actor will be seen playing a cop in the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit of the same name. The movie also stars Dangal actress Sanya Malhotra alongside Rao. The thriller action movie is helmed by Sailesh Kolanu. The director revealed that Rajkummar Rao was the only one on his wishlist to cast as Vikram in his film.

HIT: The First Case is a remake of a south film released before the global pandemic. HIT is an abbreviation of Homicide Intervention Team. The story is of a police officer in the homicide intervention team who struggles to overcome his past to investigate a case of a missing woman. Sailesh Kolanu who also directed the original spoke on the casting of the Hindi remake. He confessed that Rajkummar Rao was his first choice for remaking HIT: The First Case in Hindi.

Director Sailesh Kolanu, said: “I wanted an actor who can communicate a lot without speaking much. Vikram carries a lot of emotional baggage which makes him a very intense guy, and he speaks very less and always is to the point. So I needed a terrific actor who can communicate a lot with his eyes and Raj is just that. I have been following his work for a long time and I love the way he gets into the skin of the character. He was the only person on my wish list and I am glad we got him on board.”

Previously Rajkummar Rao had shared his views on being a part of the film. The actor who is ecstatic about his upcoming project said: “When I saw HIT, I instantly connected with it. It’s an engaging story, relevant in today’s environment. As an actor, I am always on the lookout to play characters I haven’t explored and HIT gives me a chance to do that. I’m looking forward to take this journey with Sailesh and Dil Raju.”

HIT: The First Case is presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with Dil Raju Productions. Bhushan Kumar, Dil Raju, Krishan Kumar, and Kuldeep Rathore produced the film. The film starring Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra in the lead roles is set to release on big screens on July 15, 2022.
