Here’s Why Fans Are Boycotting Popular Web-Series Mirzapur 2

People are boycotting the much-awaited second season of popular web-series Mirzapur. Check out the reason behind it.

Remember how people were head over heels with web-series Mirzapur when it came out in 2018? The crime thriller set in Uttar Pradesh created such a wave that people instantly demanded a season 2. And after a long wait, the makers announced its second season. It is scheduled for 23 October 2020 premiere on an OTT platform.

About Web-Series Mirzapur:

Mirzapur is a crime thriller web series on Amazon Prime Video. It stars Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey and Divyendu Sharma in laed roles. It is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner of Excel Entertainment. When it first premiered on Amazon in 2018, fans fell in love with it. Several memes were made on it and fans desperately wanted a second season.

Now when the next season is coming out, people want to boycott it. The impatient fans have now turned their backs. You must be wondering the reason behind such a transition.

Well, it is all because of a tweet by its lead actor Ali Fazal. Ali, who plays Guddu in the show made a tweet in December 2019 which is not going well with the public. He made the tweet during CAA and NRC protests in Delhi and it allegedly provoked the mob.

Ali had written, “Protests: Suru Majboori Mein Kiye Thhey, Ab Maja Aa Raha Hai!!!”

He had made several other tweets supporting the protests.

Ali Fazal has deleted his controversial tweets as his web series is yet to come out.

However, seems like people these days don’t forget and forgive easily. Calling for a boycott, a user wrote, “One of the best web series. But desh se badhkar kuch nahi.”

Several such tweets are doing rounds on Twitter.

What do you think about it? How rightful it is to boycott? Or are you going to watch it anyway? Do tell us in the comment section below!
