The show is going to have an intriguing plot and storyline which is going to focus more on the tales of courtesans with special emphasis on various unknown cultural aspects of Heera Mandi, Lahore. It is said to be set in the pre-independence India era.
According to the recent news reports by a leading digital television news portal, this ambitious and much awaited digital project is all set to bring together two of the finest and iconic stalwart indian actresses and globally loved magnificent female superstars on screen who have always been a very integral part of our indian cinema from past so many decades who have been ruling on hearts of fans and audiences who are Madhuri Dixit and Rekha and are also going to be seen playing main female leads in this Netflix series.
This surely is going an amalgamation of two of finest iconic and powerful bollywood actresses sharing screen space together and are a part of main principal star cast of Heera Mandi.
Both Madhuri and Rekha were last seen sharing screen space in Lajja almost 20 years back in 2001.
This marks Sanjay’s second collaboration with Madhuri Dixit after the blockbuster, Devdas starring Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali will start production and filming for Heera Mandi in full swing post the release of Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi.
The maverick and thespian film maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali sharing his thoughts on Heera Mandi said, “Heeramandi is an important milestone in my journey as a filmmaker. This is an epic, first of its kind series based on the courtesans of Lahore. It is an ambitious, grand and all-encompassing series; therefore I am nervous yet excited about making it. I am looking forward to my partnership with Netflix and bringing Heeramandi to audiences all over the world”.
Also, Rowdy Rathore actress Sonakshi Sinha is rumoured to play the lead role in the digital Netflix film.
