Faraaz Trailer Out: Hansal Mehta Brings An Intense Hostage Drama

Based on 2016 Dhaka terrorist attacks, this gritty thriller launches Shashi Kapoor’s grandson Zahan Kapoor.

Faraaz trailer out: Hansal Mehta, who is known for making intense thriller is back with another thrilling hostage drama titled Faraaz. The trailer of Faraaz which is based on a real-life terrorist attack in Dhaka in 2016 shows how one young boy showed a courage to stand against the bloodthirsty terrorists in the darkest time.

The trailer begins with few customers peacefully enjoying their meal in a cafe when few young men with modern guns enter and begin their killing spree. They shoot down anyone within their sight without any remorse. Police and other intelligence agencies are trying their best to save the lives of innocent civilians when a young boy named Faraaz Hussan (Zahan Kapoor) shows a mighty courage to stand up against these bloodthirsty terrorists and questions them about their belief in Islam.

The over two minutes long trailer ends with a line – “Tum jaiso se apna Islam wapas chahiye”  (I want my Islam back from people like you). Sharply cut trailer captures the conflicts, suspense and tragedy that took place within those walls. The fear of people hiding from the bullets is palpable throughout the trailer. Based on 2016 Dhaka terrorist attacks, this gritty thriller marks the acting debut of Shashi Kapoor’s grandson Zahan Kapoor.

The film also stars Juhi Babbar, Aamir Ali, Sachin Lalwani, Palak Lalwani, and Reshham Sahaani. Faraaz which had it’s world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival 2022, is all set for a theatrical release on February 3, 2023.

For the unversed, the film is based on real terrorist attack on 1 July 2016, where five young militants, armed with guns, sharp weapons and grenades stormed the Holey Artisan cafe in Dhaka, took diners hostage and killed 29 people over 12 hours.
