Well, now they’ve ended the speculation by releasing a new Bheed video. The images looked like they were from the 1947 partition but are actually from 2020 when India was facing lockdown due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Rajkummar Rao shared a teaser video and a first look at Bheed on his official Instagram account. Sharing the video, he explained in the caption that they tell the story of the time when the division was not between countries but within society.

Bheed is the story of India’s darkest moment in black and white. The creators of Bheed have decided to tell the story of the 2020 lockdown in a black-and-white film. Bheed, starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, will be an all-black and white film. This comes 12 years after the 84th Oscar-winning French film The Artist was shot entirely in black and white.

Bheed will portray the harsh reality of social inequality during the coronavirus pandemic. It brings to the cinema the story of migrant workers stranded without need. Amid the national lockdown, migrants were trying to find their way home. Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar will star in the essay on the royal figure who suffered the most when the coronavirus hit the nation.
