Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ starring Ali Bhatt is likely to get postponed. Amidst the coronavirus scare, Bollywood and television industry has come to a standstill and the majority of the movies are postponing their release date.
The recent one to join the list is Alia Bhatt’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. As the shooting of the film has been halted the speculations have aroused that if the delay extends further then the filmmakers will likely have to postpone the release date.
Sources close to the production team say that Gangubai Kathiawadi is one of the least costly Bhansali Productions. Alia Bhatt is the only star who is being paid a fraction of what Salman Khan has to be paid for Bhansali’s now aborted venture Inshallah.
The set of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ costs of Rs 12 crore and it depicts a Mumbai chawl in 1960.
The sources further added that most of production costs were going into the construction of sets and production value. And if the delay continues the production will have to demolish the set. And doing the set all over again would be substantial a set back to the budget.
Meanwhile, due to the budget constraints and the delay in the schedule it seems unlikely for the filmmakers to release ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ as per schedule in September 2020.
