Pakistani actor-singer Fawad Khan had to put on several kilos to play the titular role in his next film The Legend of Maula Jatt. In the flick, he plays a fierce prizefighter and for the same, he underwent bulking up his body. It is usual that actors undergo a drastic transformation to give life and originality to their characters. However, gaining weight for The Legend of Maula Jatt didn’t work in favor of Fawad Khan.
The actor had swooned the Indian audience with his Bollywood debut Khoobsurat and later featured in Kapoor & Sons along with Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra. The actor who is now gearing up for his upcoming film revealed that he tried to gain weight like Aamir Khan in Dangal and Christian Bale for Maula Jatt. Unfortunately, he pushed himself so much that he ended up being admitted to the hospital. He weighed around 73-75 kg and went up to 100 kg for the character.
The transformation for the title role took a toll on his health and the actor may not want to risk it ever again. Talking about his weight gain journey, Fawad Khan revealed, “It is not the best thing I did to myself. I would never do that again. I just made some questionable choices, which negatively affected me. There is a dark underbelly to all of these physical transformations and people should know that when you make these decisions, it is taking a huge toll on your health. And it happened. Ten days into it, I was hospitalised. My kidneys shut down.”
He further added, “I was told to walk less and eliminate stress completely. I was putting in insane hours. It’s not the right way to do these things because the thing is I had limited time. Due to whatever circumstances, it happened the way it happened. I am not Christian Bale but I tried to do what he does, even Aamir Khan for that matter. It is not a transformation that I would encourage for anyone. Absolutely never.”
The Legend Of Maula Jatt is a Pakistani Punjabi action drama film featuring Mahira Khan, Raees fame, and Fawad Khan. The film is a remake of Yunus Malik’s 1979 cult classic “Maula Jatt”. “The Legend of Maula Jatt” is one of the highest-budget movies in Pakistani film history. The movie will release in theaters on 13th October 2022.
