She is one of the upcoming budding young B town starlets with immense potential by her powerful acting which the audiences, viewers and critics couldn’t stop raving and lauding about when she made her official bollywood debut with mr perfectionist of Bollywood Aamir Khan’s super hit sports biopic movie Dangal in the year 2016 four years back. From that point onwards, there was no more looking back for her. Then her second film Thugs Of Hindostan (2018) came out which didn’t work that well and was declared a box office debacle and dud. Following which, she took two years sabbatical and long break from films and now is back to the grind with two back to back big budget releases including Anurag Basu’s satirical dark comedy film Ludo and Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari with Diljit Dosanjh and Manoj Bajpayee in leading roles. Now during the Ludo film promotional spree in one of her recent interviews Fatima shares shocking details of being molested in childhood.

Like many of our current generation of B town actresses, especially the young lot, Fatima Sana Shaikh has also been a real victim of sexism that still has its veins deeply rooted in our film industry and country as a whole. She has literally faced rejections end number of multiple times just because she didn’t look beautiful like Aishwarya Rai and Deepika Padukone due to which she was never considered by the makers as a heroine material oriented actress for their films.

Fatima has confessed that she was molested at a very tiny age of being just 3 years old and was also said that the only way to live and survive in the industry is by having sex.

Further she spoke in detailed length about the same during a recent interview with a leading digital Indian entertainment website where she explained that, “I was molested when I was just three years old. There is a stigma around the whole sexual abuse issue, which is why women and even don’t open up about being exploited in life. But I hope, today the world changes. There is more awareness and education about it. Pehle toh yehi kaha jaata tha that don’t speak about it. People will think about it differently”.

Even though she was indeed a part of the biggest dreamy Bollywood films industry, she was not safe and definitely has experienced being on the casting couch which also played a big part in her struggle where she told of having faced people who have asked her for sexual favours. She said, “Of course, I have faced the casting couch. I have been in situations where I have been told that the only way I get the job is by having sex. There are several times people have taken away work from me. There have also been times where I knew I was doing a film and I was replaced because of someone’s reference”.
