Diljit Dosanjh dropped the teaser of his upcoming film Chamkila today. Diljit plays the role of late singer and musician Amar Singh Chamkila in the biopic. Amar is regarded as one of the best live-stage performers from Punjab. He was just 27 when he was assassinated. He and his wife Amarjot were gunned down on the afternoon of 8 March 1988 and no arrest was ever made. His murder still remails a mystery. As the teaser was dropped today, fans were disappointed to see Diljit Dosanjh without a turban for the first time.
Diljit Dosanjh shared the teaser and wrote in the caption, “Jo naam saalon se aapke dil aur dimaag pe chaaya hai woh ab aapke saamne aaya hai. Watch the untold story of Punjab’s highest record-selling artist, Amar Singh #Chamkila, coming soon only on Netflix!”
A fan wrote, “Dil tutt gya.. paaji pagg bina kithe gall bann ni.”
Another one commented, “Pauu @diljitdosanjh tuh te kehnda c mai kadi v on screen pagg toh bina kadi v nai aunaa hun ki hogyaaa veere.”
“Diljit nu dekh kujh adhoora adhoora kio lgg reha ??” wrote someone else.
While criticizing Diljit for removing his turban, a fan wrote, “shrm da ghatta pagg lwa k agia.”
A comment reads, “Without pagg maja ni aya paji very sad.”
However, some of his fans clarified that being a true Sikh, Diljit never cuts his hair and has used a wig in the film.
Some people also expressed displeasure that the teaser had more Hindi dialogues than Punjabi. A fan pointed out “Would’ve been better if it was Punjabi. I’m genuinely disappointed.”
Fans said that the film should be made in Punjabi and then Hindi dubbing should be done to cater to Hindi audience.
