Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is the story based on the life of ISRO Scientist Nambi Narayan. R Madhavan will play the character of the aerospace scientist to deliver his story to everyone in the world. The 52-year-old actor visioned bringing Nambi Narayan to every screen. It is worth noting that the heartthrob actor Maddy acted, directed, and produced the film that will hit the theaters on July 1, 2022.

Story of Nambi Narayan

Coming over to the primary man behind the story – Nambi Narayan. The name Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is titled after the rocket scientist Nambi Narayan. He is a former scientist and aerospace engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation. The engineer developed the Vikas engine that would be used for the first PSLV – Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, that helped Chandrayaan-1 to reach the moon in 2008. In 2019 he was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan. Before developing the Vikas engine Narayanan in 1970 also introduced the liquid fuel rocket technology in India.

The Head of ISRO’s cryogenics division was falsely accused of espionage and arrested in 1994, however, in 1998 all charges against him were dismissed by the Supreme Court. Nambi Narayan spent 50 days in jail after being arrested for false charges. Defense officials reported that the secrets leaked by him pertained to highly confidential flight test data from experiments with rocket and satellite launches. During his custody, Narayan was forced to make false accusations against the top brass of ISRO. Unfortunately, he was tortured until collapsed when he refused to comply.

In April 1966 CBI, the Central Bureau of Investigation dismissed all the charges against him. Nambi Narayan was later declared not guilty by the Supreme Court and was free of all charges. In 2018, the bench of the apex court awarded him a compensation of INR 5 Lakh that was to be recovered from the Government of Kerala. However the latter decided to give him a whopping 1.3 crore rupees.

ISRO scientist D. Sasikumaran, Russian space agency official K. Chandrasekhar, and ISRO’s contractor S.K. Sharma and two Maldivian women were the other suspects involved in the case.

R Madhavan’s directorial debut

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect unravels the truth behind the spy scandal that changed Nambi Narayanan’s life. The movie marks the directorial debut of R Madhavan. The actor donned the director’s hat for the first time after Mr. Narayan asked him to take up the job. However, reportedly this will be his first and last directorial project. The actor lately announced to quit directing and focus on acting more.

Shah rukh khan and Suriya played a cameo for free

Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya are reported to do a cameo in the film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Shah Rukh Khan will play the role of a chat show host interviewing R Madhavan aka scientist Nambi Narayan in the Hindi version of “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect”. Suriya is said to play the same role in the Tamil version of the film. A surprising fact is that both the actors didn’t charge a single penny for their roles. With a will to just feature in the film, Shah Rukh and Suriya acted for free and bore all the charges of their team.

Multiple language release

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is a pan-India film, said to be released in 6 languages including Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The movie has been shot in India, France, Canada, Georgia, and Serbia.
