Jatin-Lalit duo has given unforgettable music to the world.. They are the faces behind the iconic music of films like Jo Jeeta Wohi Skander, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein, Hum Tum, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Yes Boss. However, the unbeatable jodi parted ways in the year 2006. Jatin Pandit and Lalit Pandit last worked together for Aamir Khan’s film Fanaa and their split marked the end of an era. The duo never spoke about the reason of their split and how it affected their lives.

Recently, during an exclusive interview with us, Lalit Pandit broke his silence. While he didn’t mention what went wrong between both, he also hinted that they might never reunite again. When asked about the reunion, Lalit said, “I don’t know. Can’t say for the future. I’d never thought we’d split. But we did split.”

“I am not sure whether we’ll come back together,” he added.

Despite the personal differences with his brother, Lalit agrees that they have created the best music together. He said, “I like Jatin-Lalit’s music. The music we created together was ahead of its time. The music of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander was way ahead of its time. I used to work with passion. I used to create music with enjoyment. When you enjoy the work you do, it comes out well because you are not doing it to do your job, but you are doing it to enjoy and nurture it. I am a passionate lover so I work with all my heart. I like our composition Chaand Sifarish and Mere Haath Mein. I like the songs from Khamoshi – Aaj Main Upar, Aasmaan Neeche, Baahon Ke Darmiya that Jatin ji made is a beautiful song. The entire album of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is great. DDLJ was the epitome of our career music.”

He further added, “It is impossible to make a song like Pehla Nasha. After composing that song, I never composed in that direction. I knew that I won’t be able to do it as it has a place of its own.”

Lalit Pandit also shared his views on the new-age music. He said, “I like the new age music. It’s different. One must keep trying to create good music. Your music reflects your personality. It reflects your thoughts and your nature. I think that the new composers are very talented but they don’t get the creative freedom that they deserve. If they are given freedom, they’ll make new songs instead of remixing the old ones. They don’t want to do remix, but they are forced to do so. So, the original music is missing these days. And that’s why we enjoy independent music these days. Even I am doing independent music these days because there’s freedom and I enjoy that. The music of films these days have such high value these days that people are scared to work up fresh songs. But I am sure that good music will come back.”
