Exclusive Chat With Kabir Duhan Singh On Web-Series ‘Ramyug’

Kabir Duhan Singh is a popular actor who is best known for his antagonist roles. He made his debut in 2015 with Tamil film titled ‘Jil’ and has become a known face in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films.

Kabir is now gearing up for his OTT debut with Kunal Kohli’s web series ‘Ramyug’. All the episodes of Ramyug will start premiering on MX Player from May 6 onwards.

In a recent exclusive interview with Lehren, Kabir Singh talked about his role in ‘Ramyug’ in detail. Kabir, who is playing the role of Raavan in the series says, “It is my dream role. It is every actor’s dream to play Raavan. I always wanted a grand OTT and Bollywood debut. But Raavan is one such character that every actor around the world would like to play.”

On being asked how he was offered this role, Kabir told, “I was shooting for my film titled Pahlwaan in Hyderabad. Jogi bhaisaab, who is a popular casting director and a good human being called me up and asked to meet me. When I went, he asked me to do a look test. These casting directors always maintain suspense and don’t disclose the details of the role. They don’t give out the details of the film or the filmmaker until things are clear. So, I gave my audition and meanwhile, I got another film and went to Chennai to shoot for it. Five days later, I get a call again from Jogi Bhai asking about my whereabouts. I told him that I am shooting for my Tamil film. So, when I came back to Mumbai, he asked me to meet Kunal Kohli. Till this point, I had no idea.”

Kabir further told, “After I met Kunal sir, I came to know the details about the project. And when I came to know that I would be playing Raavan, I was on cloud nine. I couldn’t express my happiness at that time, but butterflies were dancing in my stomach.”

Kabir Duhan Singh also said that he doesn’t believe in Nepotism. He, who hails from Haryana is an outsider and has done over 40 films in 5 years. He said, “It’s not like outsiders don’t get work in the industry. My first film ‘Jil’ made me. I gave an audition for that film and I have given an audition for Ramyug as well. And there are many good casting directors who provide good opportunities to outsiders. One just has to focus and never give up on dreams. We have an example of Nawazuddin Siddiqui who struggled for 20 years by doing small roles and see, where he is now.”

Apart from Ramyug, Kabir Duhan Singh will also be seen alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Hindi film ‘Bole Chudiyan’.
