The sequel to Mohit Suri’s Ek Villain has hit the theatres this week. Ek Villain Returns introduces the new cast comprising Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Tara Sutaria, and Disha Patani. The film has now opened to decent weekend earnings making a total of ₹23.54 cr. at the box office.
Ek Villain Returns Weekend Box Office Collection
According to certain reports, Ek Villain Returns has managed to get into the list of top Bollywood openers for this year. It has now emerged as the 10th highest opening weekend grosser film after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Bachchhan Paandey, Prithviraj, Shamshera, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and JugJugg Jeeyo.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh told in a tweet that the earnings of Ek Villain Returns on Day 3, he Tweeted, “#EkVillainReturns shows an upward trend on Day 3, thus clocking a decent weekend… Mass pockets driving its biz… Mon – Thu biz crucial, the trend will give an idea of its lifetime biz… Fri 7.05 cr, Sat 7.47 cr, Sun 9.02 cr. Total: ₹ 23.54 cr. #India biz.”
Meanwhile, the film collected over 7.05cr on its opening day, trade analyst Taran Adarsh told in a tweet that the earnings of Ek Villain Returns on Day 1 were Rs 7.05 cr. He tweeted, “#EkVillainReturns reaps the benefit of franchise factor, opens better at single screens of mass pockets and Tier-2 centres… Metros – especially national chains – need to gather momentum… Day 2 and 3 crucial… Fri ₹ 7.05 cr. #India biz.”
However, the first-day earnings of Ek Villain Returns are disappointing if we compare them to the first part. Sidharth Malhotra starrer Ek Villain had a huge opening day of Rs 16.50 crore. The sequel has not managed to even record half of its earnings of day 1. Talking about this huge difference, Box Office India said, “Those were different days and the product has not really gone up another level in terms of production values or starcast or the biggest selling point of the first film which was music.”
The much-anticipated film went down in the theatres on 29th July 2022, however, hours after the release the film got leaked on different online websites like Tamilrockers, Filmyzilla, Movierulz, Telegram, and more. The issue could indeed be a topic of concern for the makers since the leak will automatically influence the figures of the film at the box office.
Ek Villain Returns is an action thriller movie written and directed by Mohit Suri. It features Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria. It was released theatrically today, that is, 29 July. Ek Villain Returns is the sequel to Ek Villain which starred Riteish Deshmukh, Sidharth Malhotra, and Shraddha Kapoor.
