On Friday, November 29th, the ED team in Mumbai carried out unexpected raids at Kundra’s house as well as his office. The investigation was led out in regards to money laundering issue associated with the old pornographic network. Additionally, the agency is also searching locations connected to his associates, and has also elutriated his essentials, and properties present at the premises.

Raj Kundra initially faced an arrest in June 2021 for allegedly producing pornographic films but was released on bail in September 2021 after he spent two months in custody. However, as reported on November 29th, 2024 – the officials from Mumbai Police identified him as the main conspirator in the case. Currently, over 15 locations in Mumbai, including a few cities of Uttar Pradesh are being investigated for the same.

As per the media outlets, this comes out as the second money laundering case against Raj Kundra. Prior to this, ED had seized assets valuing Rs 98 crores against Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty in a cryptocurrency-related case earlier in the same year. However, the Bombay High Court granted the couple relief, lifting the ED’s attachment order.

Raj Kundra’s OLD Pornographic Case

For the unversed, the old case of Raj Kundra held investigations focusing on accusations that Kundra played a role in streaming adult content via the ‘Hotshots’ app, which has since been taken down from mobile platforms by Apple and Google. Kundra is said to have run the content supply for the UK-based company from his Viaan Industries office. Details reveal that aspiring models and actors were enticed with offers of film roles but were ultimately coerced into taking part in pornographic productions. These filming sessions typically occurred in rented homes or apartments across Mumbai. During these shoots, the accused directed actresses to adhere to a different script and pressured them into performing nude scenes. Those who resisted faced threats and were reportedly forced to cover the production expenses themselves.
