DYK? Vicky Kaushal Was “Arrested” During Gangs Of Wasseypur Movie Shoot

Vicky Kaushal was once arrested during the making of 'Gangs of Wasseypur,' as revealed by director Anurag Kashyap on Kapil Sharma's show.

Vicky Kaushal is undeniably one of Bollywood’s most prominent stars. He made a striking debut in the critically acclaimed Masaan in 2015 and has consistently dazzled audiences with his range of performances. An award-winning actor with a dedicated fan following, Vicky remains one of the most captivating talents in Hindi cinema. However, prior to his acting career, Vicky served as an assistant director, contributing to films like Gangs Of Wasseypur, an experience that also led to his arrest.

On the occasion of the film’s 10th anniversary, the cast and creators were invited to Kapil Sharma’s show. It was during this appearance that director Anurag Kashyap made a revelation.

He said, “We were shooting in a real location without permission. Once we were shooting we got to know that it’s illegal sand mining. Yes! Sand mining was being done by the mafia and during this time Vicky was arrested, but ‘Haramkhor’ director Shlok Sharma one-upped Vicky Kaushal. Moreover, he went to jail twice.”

Anurag Kashyap was accompanied by the show’s cast, which included Manoj Bajpayee, Piyush Mishra, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Vineet Kumar, and Pankaj Tripathi. Vicky Kaushal made his entry into Bollywood as an assistant director for this film released in 2012, and since then, he has never turned back.
