After facing criticism for insulting the national flag at Coachella 2023, Diljit Dosanjh clarifies his statement.

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh recently faced backlash when he performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California. He becomes the first Punjabi artist to perform at the music festival. However, he had to face trollers too for his statement during his second performance at Coachella 2023. At the event, he was seen addressing a girl in the crowd holding the Indian flag.

 The singer was heard saying, in Punjabi, (This girl is carrying my country’s flag, this is for my country and everyone. Music belongs to all, don’t use it to spread hate).” As soon as his statement took place on the internet, social media users started trolling him. Netizens slapped him for insulting the Indian flag.

Now Diljit has taken to his Twitter handle and clarified his statement. He wrote, “DON’T SPREAD FAKE NEWS & NEGATIVITY Mai Kiha Eh Mere Desh Da Jhanda Hai Eh Mere Desh Lai.. Means MERI Eh Performance Mere desh Lai Je Punjabi Nhi Aundi Tan Google Kar leya Karo Yaar… Kion ke Coachella Ek Big Musical Festival Aa Othey Har desh to log aunde ne.. that’s why Music Sab Da Sanjha Hai. SAHI GAL NU PUTHI KIVE GHUMAUNA KOI TUADEY WARGEYA TON SIKHEY ENU V GOOGLE KAR LEYO..”

After his tweet, his fans came out in support and said that there was no need for clarification. One user wrote, “Diljit paaji nu explanation de k apni desh pagti da saboot dena pe reya ay. Thats every indian who’s not hindu ever. Poori zindagi bs asi desh naal loyal aan eho sabit krne wich guzar jani tuhadi.” Another fan wrote, “I don’t support his political views or his stand during Farmer protest but what he said in that concert was not controversial or bad plzz.. don’t make mudda out of anything.”
