Kabir Khan’s ’83 has created a lot of buzz amongst the audience prior to its release. Movie-goers are eager to re-live the historic moment of team India lifting its maiden ICC World Cup in 1983. The first look posters of the movie are already out and everyone can see their favorite actor in a cricketer’s avatar.
Keeping aside the team members of the on-screen ’83 movie, Deepika Padukone is also going to play a pivotal role in the film. She will be playing on-screen wife to Ranveer Singh who is all going to play winning captain Kapil Dev in the movie. It will be for the first time after their marriage that Deepika and Ranveer will share the screen space. Deepika will essay the role of Romi Dev, a supportive wife of Kapil Dev.
Recently, Deepika’s first look as Romi Dev was released and the netizens went gaga over the chemistry between her and Ranveer. Talking about sharing the screen space alongside her husband after being seen together in Ramleela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat, the actress said her role as Romi Dev was a refreshing change. She said, “With ’83, it was a completely different setting, characters and costumes, and dialogues. I am surprised to share the frame with Ranveer in a film that is very much different from our past outings.”
The Piku actress further added, “I am looking forward to work with Ranveer in more contemporary films.”
Not only is Deepika playing a crucial role in the film but also she is the co-producer in the Kabir Khan directorial. Deepika’s first venture as a producer was earlier released Chhapaak, a film based on the real-life story of an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film did an average business at the Box Office.
Speaking of ’83, the movie is all set to turn the theatres into cricket stadiums on 10th April 2020.
