Deepika Padukone on #MeToo: It is not happening only in the film industry

Deepika Padukone says that #MeToo related questions should also be asked to others apart from actors.

After Chhapaak, Deepika Padukone will star in Luv Ranjan’s next untitled film with Ranbir Kapoor. She recently made news as Luv is accused of sexual misconduct charges in the #MeToo movement.

Speaking about the same Deepika in an interview said “You should ask some cricketers about the #MeToo movement. I don’t see that happening. But every actor is asked about the #MeToo movement. It’s not something that’s happening only in the film industry.”

“So, sure, I don’t think I’m in any kind of place to say if I would expose myself to a forum. You can ask me whatever question you want, but why subject it only to a film star? As responsible people, should we not have an opinion? All our opinions should matter then, right?” she said further.

While Deepika’s casting in Luv Ranjan’s film remains unconfirmed, it will be interesting to see who stars opposite Ranbir in the film.

Deepika will also, be seen in Ranveer Singh’s 83 based on India’s World Cup win of 1983 where she will essay the character of Romi Dev.
